Pangasius Production and Marketing Project in Mekong River Delta approved Print

Under the Project in 2020 Pangasius output will be 2 million MT, export volume 900,000MT, export value US$3 billion, creating jobs for 25,000 workers, the maximum farming area 13,000ha.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Viet Nam Prime Minister has approved the Pangasius Production and Marketing Project in Mekong Delta through 2020. The project aims to make full use and enhance competitiveness of Mekong Delta’s Pangasius industry, striving to make it into a key export industry of the country, at the same time creating jobs and improving people’s living standards.


Under the Project in 2020 Pangasius output will be 2 million MT, export volume 900,000MT, export value US$3 billion, creating jobs for 25,000 workers, the maximum farming area 13,000ha.

MARD is assigned to cooperate with local authorities to review, adjust planning of Pangasius production and marketing in the Mekong Delta; develop standards and tighten inspection over quality of seeds, feeds, environment management, hygiene and food safety, etc. At the same time, MARD works with VASEP to manage Pangasius quality and export prices.
